Privacy Policy

1. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Moonlet handles information when you use the Moonlet mobile app, Moon Map, notifications, support features, and related services. Moonlet is responsible for this information. Contact us at moonlethq@outlook.com.

2. Information you provide

Moonlet uses Sign in with Apple. We receive the Apple account identifier needed to maintain your account and may receive your email address and name. Apple may provide a private relay email address.

You may provide a display name, profile photo, onboarding interests, and sharing preferences. Unless Moonveil is enabled, your display name and profile photo can appear with an approved public Moon Map post.

We store photos you choose or capture, captions, capture date, optional lunar details, mood, challenge details, visibility choices, and location information you elect to attach. We also process reactions, reports, user blocks, bug reports, optional reply email addresses, and support communications.

3. Location and astronomy data

Moonlet requests location only when a feature needs it, including attaching an approximate place, calculating moonrise or moonset, scheduling astronomy alerts, or showing viewing conditions.

City sharing stores coordinates rounded to one decimal place and may include city, region, and country. Country sharing stores coordinates rounded to whole degrees and removes city and region. Hidden sharing stores no location label or coordinates for that Moonlet. These rules are enforced by the database.

Astronomy calculations are generally performed on your device. Cloud-cover requests send coordinates rounded to one decimal place to Open-Meteo. Moonlet does not display your live or exact device location on the Map.

4. Notifications, purchases, and device information

If you enable remote notifications, Moonlet stores an Expo push token linked to your account and device platform. Astronomy reminders may be scheduled locally on your device.

RevenueCat processes subscription purchase history, receipts, a Moonlet user identifier, entitlement status, restoration events, and related technical information for app functionality, fraud prevention, and subscription analytics. Apple processes payment information; Moonlet does not receive your full payment-card details.

Bug reports may include app version, build, platform, and operating-system version. Moonlet also stores encrypted sign-in session information, preferences, reminder identifiers, and temporary signed-image caches locally.

5. How Moonlet uses information

We use information to authenticate you; synchronize your archive; operate the Moon Map; provide lunar, weather, challenge, badge, reaction, profile, notification, moderation, blocking, reporting, support, security, subscription, and deletion features; enforce community rules; prevent abuse; troubleshoot problems; and comply with legal obligations.

Moonlet does not sell personal information, serve third-party advertising, or use information to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

6. Public sharing and service providers

A Moon Map submission appears immediately only to its owner. It is not visible to other users until a moderator approves the photo and caption. Approved posts normally remain public for 24 hours and can include the photo, caption, approximate location, lunar metadata, reactions, and—unless Moonveil is enabled—profile identity.

Authorized moderators can review submissions, reports, publisher information, and moderation history. Reports are not public. Blocking filters the blocked publisher’s Map content from your experience.

Moonlet uses Apple, Supabase, Expo, Open-Meteo, and RevenueCat to operate the service. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, Moonlet, or others.

7. Retention and deletion

We retain account information and private content while your account is active unless you delete it sooner. Public Map visibility normally ends after 24 hours, while the Moonlet remains in your private archive. Signed image links expire automatically.

You can delete individual Moonlets or permanently delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes the authentication account, associated database records, stored Moonlet images, and profile-avatar files, and revokes Moonlet’s Sign in with Apple authorization. Limited records may remain only when legally required, necessary for security or abuse matters, or present in routine backups until expiration.

8. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile, control visibility and approximate location, enable Moonveil, control notifications, remove a Map post, delete content, block users, revoke device permissions, sign out, or delete your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, or object to or restrict processing. Email moonlethq@outlook.com. We may need to verify your account.

9. Children

Moonlet is not directed to children under 13 or below the minimum age required to consent to online services where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age.

10. Security, international processing, and changes

Moonlet uses encrypted session storage, private image buckets, signed image links, database access policies, approximate-location enforcement, role-restricted moderation, and other safeguards. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. We may update this policy when features or legal obligations change and will update its effective date.
